1/2 Nobel

Teacher - Mrs Nagi

Welcome to 1/2 Nobel

My name is Siena Nagi and this is my first year teaching at Busby PS. It is my third year of teaching and I’m super excited to have 1/2 Nobel as my first ever K-2 class. Previously, I have taught across Stage 2/3 and Stage 2 class. The students of 1/2 Nobel have had an amazing start to Term 1 and have settled well into their new learning environment. They continue to surprise me daily with their dedication towards their learning and developing their independence.

In English, the students have been viewing different texts to make connections between their personal experiences and the texts as well as learning about the narrative elements such as character, setting and story structure. They are also doing an amazing job with learning their weekly sounds and letters to help them with their spelling. Moreover, they have been building their understanding of nouns, adjectives, verbs and preposition words to help further develop their sentence structure.

In Mathematics, I can definitely see their love of learning new mathematical concepts grow every week! It makes me immensely proud whenever I see a light bulb moment appear on their faces. 1/2 Nobel students have been building on their knowledge of collections of 10 and exploring different types of patterns such as repeating, growing and shrinking patterns. They absolutely love singing the 100s song and are amazed with how high numbers can go up to!

It has definitely been an eventful term. We recently attended our first excursion to the Camden Show which the students enjoyed as they got to see different farm animals and viewed the inside of a helicopter, fire truck and a highway patrol car. We also celebrated Harmony Day and had our School Photos and Easter Hat Parade. Congratulations to all the raffle winners.

I hope everyone had a lovely long weekend and I look forward to seeing the students’ continued growth throughout the year.
